Dr. Diba Dastjerdi
Owner and Lead Dentist
Dr. Diba Dastjerdi graduated from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2007. She has been a faculty member of the pediatric dentistry department at Tufts since 2003. Dr. Diba has devoted her professional career to treating and serving children. Her experience and passion for working with children started before she moved to the United States in 1999. She completed her initial dental school training in 1988 at Beheshti University and worked as a dentist at the Children’s Hospital. She then specialized in pediatric dentistry in Iran and completed that training in 1995. In 2000, Dr. Diba joined Carr & Associates as a dental assistant. After receiving her degree from Tufts, she rejoined the practice as an associate, later purchasing the office in 2014. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Azita Khanbodaghi
Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Azita Khanbodaghi is one of our pediatric dentists. She joined our team after graduating from the Pediatric Residency Program at Tufts University. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of California Los Angeles and then went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University. She is also both a clinical instructor and an assistant professor at the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Bahram Ghassemi
Orthodontist
Dr. Bahram Ghassemi graduated from Boston University School of Dental Medicine in 1979 with a specialty in Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry. He served as Chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the Tehran University Dental School before moving back to the United States. He is an Associate Professor at Tufts School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Orthodontics since 1985. Dr. Ghassemi has authored many articles and has presented numerous lectures and courses at professional meetings nationally and internationally.
Dr. Rickey Smith
Dr. Rickey Smith grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. After obtaining his
Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Marquette University Dental School, he practiced general dentistry in Chicago. Upon moving to Boston, Dr. Smith worked as practice owner, a consultant and as Dental Director at public health center providing dental treatment to his community. With a passion for dentistry at an early age, Dr. Smith treats his patients with dedication and compassion.
Dr. Heidar Zohrehei
General Dentist
Dr. Heidar Zohrehei, commonly known by patients as “Dr. Z”, is one of our general dentists. Dr. Z first graduated from dental school in Iran, where he practiced dentistry until 2013. He then completed an additional two years of dentistry as an Advanced Standing student at Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Zohrehei also worked as a scholar researcher in the immunology department at the Forsyth Institute. Beyond dentistry he has worked for two years as an electrical engineer. He has combined his love for dentistry and engineering and loves doing cosmetic and prosthetic dentistry
Dr. Bob Cheng
General Dentist
Dr. Cheng has joined our practice to help provide dental care for our adult patients! He received his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and received his Dental Degree from the University of Pittsburgh
School of Dental Medicine. He went on to receive his General Practice Residency Certificate at the Montefiore Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Gyusik Cho
Periodontist
Dr. Gyusik Cho was born in Seoul, Korea and came to the US in 1996. He attended Georgetown University where he majored in Finance and International Business. After working in the financial work for 2 years, he decided to go to dental school and earned his DDS at New York University College of Dentistry. Upon graduating from NYU, Dr. Cho joined the Periodontology Program at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he earned his certificate in periodontology and a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Cho currently lives in the South End with his two miniature pinschers Nori and Dochi.
Tanya Pabon
Office Manager
Tanya has been part of the Carr & Associates team since 2002. She has been an integral part of both the clinical aspect of dentistry as well as the administrative. Her clinical skills stem from her dental education at the Universidad Odontológica Dominicana. She has served as the lead dental assistant at Small Smiles. She has extensive training in dental administration. Prior to joining Carr & Associates she was the manager of an orthodontic practice in Nashua. Tanya is an excellent team leader and loves getting to know our patients. Outside of the office, Tanya enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and their dog Malu. Se Habla Español.
